Two plots here. The best-fit polynomial regression (cubic in this case) and the linear regression (the latter is not statistically significant the former is). One thing to note is the low adjusted R-squared values; the percentage variance accounted for is less than 15% so we should be looking for other factors than just year to fully explain the pattern seen.
